Comet

The glow of a lantern
Swinging on a rope
Running through forest
Hanging onto hope

The sparks from the embers
And its little bit of heat
It lights the winding path
The comfort that I keep

I'm always kind of running
But so quickly I can freeze
Still as a marble statue
In the shadowed trees

There's war going on
What do i care, i’m just so cold
And my eyes have yet to see it
It’s just what i’m told

This little light of mine shines
And give me what I need
Through the bramble, vine
And every kind of weed

The glow of a lantern
My comet on a rope
Against the endless night
Hanging onto hope

Go to Sleep

Go to sleep now
my little friend
I'll be with you
Soon again

In the morning
on you'll I'll await
The sun will rise
and you will awake

Yesterday
is miles away
and pretty soon
a brand new day

Go to sleep now
my little friend
I'll be with you
Soon again

Count your sheep
and say your prayers
and say goodbye
to all your cares

Go to sleep now
my little friend
we can start over
soon again

Go to sleep now
my little friend
then let's keep going
to the end

Blowing Kisses

Blowing kisses in the rain
School is starting, oh, the pain!
I've got new shoes, clothes, new hair
But feel so naked, feel so bare

Blowing kisses to the sky
Come on over, can't we try?
To see if we could really click
And build a castle brick by brick

Blowing kisses on the bus
I think of you I think of us
When I look out the window pane
I can see it all come sun, come rain

St. Isidore

weeds had grown upon the grave
moss upon the stone
i know that he's not here at all
and i feel all the more alone

st. isadore you were my friend
but where have you gone to?
can't you send some sign to me
What am i supposed to do?

In late october the full moon
the stone arch among the trees
We lit candles and drank sips of wine
such happy memories

And now i stand upon the grave
And wonder where you are
i'll join you someday soon enough
And then you won't be far

Someday Somewhere

Going somewhere I will drift away
A treasure that I'm searching for
Find some refuge in the fog and mist
On some long forgotten shore

Blue jay feather tucked inside a book
letters that I write each day
and if my pen - if it runs out of ink
I guess it means i'll have to stay

Heaven sweep me up
Heavy anchors from below
But somewhere i hear god saying
'here's where you should go'

drifting slowly in the idle winds
breathing in the salty air
i think i'm taking the long way round
But someday somewhere I'll get there

A Bed for a Peasant

i'm crying
the wind hears
and it dries up my tears
i can't see
the stars know
they light the sky for me
i'm falling
the earth moves
and that is where I stay
a bed for a peasant
who wants the day away
the lord to whom i owe my blood and sweat
creates the kingdom from our toil and debt
it's late but I believe if I desired
all the riches i could still acquire

a secret
you must know
were never meant to hear
a promise
you must make
and to your heart hold dear
I'm sorry it's like this
but you could join me too
but first you must forsake
the life that you once new
the king to whom we all our gifts must bring
has a place for us a narrow opening
but on the way expect there to be war
the likes of which you've never known before

Blue Caboose

blue caboose
i see you going down the track
see someone waving from the back
dandelion breeze

it's summertime
and you are just passing by
i wish you take me for a ride
past silver maple trees

but your whistle is fading fast
further down the track
and you're rolling far away
and are never coming back
I contemplate
And fear it's getting late

blue caboose
means nothing that i saw you here
on my walk down to the lighthouse pier
on this average summer day

i get stuck
on the muddy avenue
thinkin that i ought to do
is maybe go away

but your whistle is fading fast
further down the track
and you're rolling far away
And are never coming back
i've changed my mind
pease let me on this time

blue caboose
i'm running to catch up with you
cause i know it's what i ought to do
the geese are flying high

Autumn leaves
and time to be a rollin on
from singing of same old song
watching everything go by

Fireworks

another big blast
so suddenly so fast
and so very very loud
somebody is proud
and silence they're done
but no there's always more
it sounds like a battle
it sounds like a war

another big bang
another flash of light
up up they go
into the night

so gentle and so soft
lingering sparks fall
and fade into nothing
with no sound at all
i wait at the window
just maybe to see
another one appear
hypnotizing me
