Ingeborg von Agassiz is a musician and visual artist based out of Duluth, MN.
Her name is a moniker she chose for herself to pay tribute to her roots. ‘Ingeborg’ is her great-grandmother and ‘Agassiz’ refers to the ancient glacial Lake Agassiz what once covered the region where she was born and raised in northwestern Minnesota. ‘Von’ is a German word which means ‘of’ and thus we have ‘Ingeborg of Agassiz.’ She modeled the name after two powerful women of Medieval Europe: Hildegard von Bingen and Eleanore of Aquitaine.
Ingeborg performs her original fully-formed songs with an array of electronic instruments. The Duluth News Tribune described her music as reminiscent of “children's music while also reminding you of "Gangsta's Paradise.”
