been in one place much too long
thought i’d be here just a year
but it’s been a decade strong

to see a broadway play
never walked in central park
on a Lou Reed Perfect Day
Thought i’d see that big city
at least every now and then
But no, i’ve never made it

I’m gonna drive LA to Maine
And every place in there between
I think it’s time to find out
What I’ve never seen
And i’ll play shows
To empty rooms
to nobody at the bar
Miles and miles of highway
with my keyboard and guitar
Thought i’d be further along
