You're Gone

Late summer wind
saying goodbye
but can't shed a tear
from my weary old eye
the asphalt is hot
its burning my feet
and i'm running to say
what i couldn't last week

but you're gone
you're out of my sight
missed my chance
yes you're gone
without looking back
not a glance
yes you're gone

early october
and it's been some time
but not long enough
for what i've left behind
i'm begging the lord
and all the stars too
to send me something
to take my mind from you

cuz you're gone
you're out of my sight
far from view
yeah you're gone
So goodbye
to what i once knew
yeah you're gone

And now it's december
the end of the year
and i'm looking ahead
and a whole new frontier
i'm lighting a candle
and trimming the tree
and hoping that far away
soon I will be

And finally it's spring
it arrives late in may
the daffodils bloom
and i pick a bouquet
Set them on the table
in an old plastic vase
finally some life
in this haunted old place

yeah you're gone
you're out of my sight
far from here
yeah you're gone
I’m counting
each month of the year
Since you’ve gone
out of my sight far away
yeah you're gone
i'm learning just why
you didn't stay
yeah you're gone
