Do car alarms ever
prevent theft?
I think they were invented
as a spiritual test
I used to drive a car
with a touchy alarm
that would go off whenever
and only caused harm
one day
I was out in our building’s parking lot
In good old central hillside
and the car alarm would not shut off
and I started freaking out
(aka crying)
And I had to go to a church gig.
and I was like, omg,
the cops are gonna pull me over
because this damned alarm will not go off
And this was particularly distressing
for me at the time
Cuz I didn't have my driver's license
Cuz I had just lost my wallet!
But luckily
A man who was across the street
(who was out for a cigarette)
walked over and
disconnected my car horn for me
He didn’t even say a word
He just motioned for me
to open the hood
And he stuck his hand in and . . .
THE SWEET SOUND OF SILENCE
that man
is my hero
and yes, if you hadn't guessed
