That i learned back in the day
That gives me a specific memory
Every time i play
I can go ten years
with not seeing the score
but one glance and a memory is back
just as it was before

From the movie that i love
And his epic final leap
into the air so high above
it's just 4 bars of music
a simple little passage
and billy elliot is right there
leaping above the page
the piano is his stage
And i'm just sitting there watching
Back in college this would happen
every time i practiced that part
that little ballerina boy
and his dancing would always start
And then he'd be gone
As if he was never there at all
And days later, same music, same spot
And bam there he is.
And then I put that song away
And never think of it til today
When ten years later
I whip out that song
Get to that part and
boom
billy's been there all along
just waiting!
